My hubby and I bought a home that had a charming seasoned fireplace, however i fell in prefer with the seasoned mantle, and I could not understand why anyone would have such a charming fireplace in such a ratty seasoned house, my hubby told me it was the fireplace of the era and then he told me the history of the house.
I could imagine the balls that were held back then.
I could picture the candles on the immense chandeliers over the ballroom, however when I asked him how he knew the history of the house. He told me it was a household that he said he would own one afternoon. His fantastic Grandma once lived here, and it was his family home⦠After buying the house, we wanted to put it back to his original splendor. I asked if we were going to make the fireplace a working fireplace. My friend and I were looking outside, but we could not find a chimney for the fireplace. I thought they may have closed it off, but there was no chimney. My friend and I got an architect to look at the house, and he said we were right, they had taken the chimney down, and the fireplace was now just for show. I was okay with that and said I would put a fireplace insert into the hearth. As long as I could keep the fireplace, I will leave it as is! Once all the replaces were made and the home was looking like it did when it was new, we planned a celebration. The only swings we made were that there are flicker lights where there were once candles, and a fireplace insert in the fireplace.
