It was a rainy summer day in the countryside, and the heating and A/C tech had just finished servicing the air conditioner machine in the big old country home.
She was resting on the porch, enjoying the sound of the rain on the tin roof.
She picked up a book next to her and started flipping through the pages. As she was reading, she heard a commotion coming from the nearby barn, where the homeowner kept some pigs. Walking in the rain to see what was going on was not on the heating and A/C tech’s mind. When she got to the barn, she saw that the pigs were squealing as well as running around in circles. Suddenly, she heard the sound of dogs barking, and she knew that something was wrong. She rushed back to the house to call the police, but when she got there, she saw that the front door was ajar. She cautiously pushed open the door and peered inside. To her shock, she saw that the air filters had been stolen from the heating and A/C unit. She knew that the theft of air filters was not a common break-in, and she wondered why someone would go to such lengths to steal them. As she waited for the police to arrive, she pondered the strange turn of events. Was it just boredom that drove the thief to steal the air filters? The police arrived shortly as well as investigated the scene. It turned out that the thief was an ex-employee of the heating and A/C company that the tech worked for. She had been fired for stealing from another work site as well as had been seeking revenge by stealing from the corporation’s customers.
