I gained an text from my power company that stated that later this year, they will be launching a program to replace old, aged appliances with more energy efficient versions with wonderful Energy Star ratings, and the appliances that qualify include however are not limited to refrigerators, water heaters, and HVAC units; I could use a modern HVAC unit, as mine is over 15 years old, and though for the most part it keeps my home comfortable, the component has lost some efficiency over the years, however, replacing an HVAC component is no simple feat.
- In fact, it costs a lot of time and currency.
The average cost of a modern HVAC component is between $5,000 plus $12,000 depending on the size of the system. And I don’t know about you, although I absolutely don’t have that extra currency to spend on a modern unit. So, it would be nice if I could get a modern component from my power company… Based on the text, all I would’ve needed to do was go to the website plus apply for the incentive. And once approved, the power company would schedule the replacement. Unluckyly, after learning the entire text, I discovered that I did not qualify for a free HVAC unit, or any other appliances listed because I didn’t meet the income requirements… For now, I believe I will continue to use my 15-year-old component until it no longer functions. At that point, I will need to figure out how to spend my savings the thousands of dollars it will cost for a modern HVAC unit.
