The air conditioner condenser is a big piece of equipment

A couple weeks ago, my wonderful friend and I got some absolutely heavy rain in the neighborhood that I live in. It was raining so difficult that it began to hail outside, my friend and I had a tornado warning due to the dire weather. The rain fell in the early part of the evening plus lasted for less than an hour, however it was so much rain that my backyard was filled with water. I have a small drain inside my yard plus the water fills up inside of it. At first, I was distraught that the water would be so high that it would seep into my outdoor air conditioner condenser. Thankfully it did not, as the air conditioner condenser is sited on a concrete pad in a corner near the wall. HVAC units are resilient pieces of equipment plus they are built to withstand dire weather conditions. From hail to heavy winds plus rain to direct sun to blizzards, plus more, they should hold up in inclement weather. And of course, it makes sense that the air conditioner condenser is durable because they are kept outside where they will be exposed to exhausting weather. The only thing I am not quite sure they would survive is a lightning strike. I would think that a lightning strike would cause drastic disfigurement to the electrical components of the unit. In addition to the lightning strike, a power surge can also cause major disfigurement to the unit. The options that my air conditioner condenser would get struck by lightning or face a power surge are slenderto none. However, I do need to get the drain checked to avoid my yard from flooding again.
