I purchased my leather couches over 7 years ago, and I am blissful to report that I am yet to see any signs of cracking in the leather. And that is because I have done everything possible to make sure that my leather couches have an extended lifespan, but one of the most crucial things that I do every two weeks is to wipe and wipe down the leather couches, then depending on how dirty the couches are, I have done this biweekly in the past! Wiping down the leather couches guarantees that they are free of dirt as well as any foreign substances that can cause harm, but the second most crucial thing is to wipe down the couches with a leather protector which will prevent discoloration or cracking on the couches, and because leather is made from pet skin, it is crucial to keep the surface hydrated and protected at all times. Of course, nothing is 100% guaranteed however these 2 small upkeeps have helped to preserve my leather couches and I plan on using these methods to extend the life of the couches for as long as possible.
