Our boiler has been unused for a year now since we added an electric heat pump to our home.
We opted for a heat pump installation after the HVAC specialist shared energy-saving tips that included opting for an electric heating system.
From the first mention and several reviews from other users, an electric HVAC doesn’t seem like the best option for energy saving but with the use of an HEPA filter and a wireless thermostat, everything comes together with ease. We were lucky to get our new heating equipment at a discounted price in the HVAC products for sale section at the local heating equipment business otherwise it would have been a very expensive project to undertake just from a tip. According to our HVAC serviceman, we were also about to catch a break from frequent heater maintenance which would mean that we would save the amount of money we used to pay for the frequent servicing. Another thing I love about it is that, despite installing it during winter it also functions as cooling during summer so we’ve not had to buy an additional air conditioner to help with the heat. We recently had a debate with friends when we mentioned that our heat pump was very climate-friendly but they argued that it wasn’t because the electricity was generated from coal and natural gas. The only way we could boast of having a carbon-neutral home is if the electricity was sourced from cleaner energy. It was such an enlightening debate and maybe in the future, we could work with the heating technician to change our system to one that depends on solar energy. For now, we shall use it to keep our energy bills lower and our home comfortable, all year round.
