I’ve found out an important life fact that took me a long time to figure out.
Now that I’m in my mid 50’s, I have a bit of perspective from which to draw some conclusions. And for sure, I guess that being consistent can be just as fancy as having quality talent. There were other people fighting for this office with its own thermostat and the amazing view. And many of those same people were more gifted and brighter than I am. For sure, I’ve spent my entire career inside the commercial Heating and A/C of our building downtown. And while I’m not genius, I’m no slouch either. But the reason that I guess I got the nod over the other folks has more to do with my consistency than it does my the quality of my talent. It’s an interesting revelation to say the least. But I really do feel in consistency. From the way I deal with supplier to my personal life, I’ve consistently put a premium on being consistent. My residential Heating and A/C is a wonderful example. My partner and I have been in the same condo for just over 20 years. And in that time, we’ve had exactly zero complications with the heating and cooling equipment. The Heating and A/C unit is pretty pedestrian when it comes to quality. It’s what my friend and I could afford when my friend and I bought this house. Still, we’ve gotten two decades of flawless quality heating and air from that rather mundane residential Heating and A/C. Yet, it was being a part of the Heating and A/C service plan that made all the difference. That’s because, for all those years, the Heating and A/C unit got consistent, seasonal Heating and A/C repair in the Fall and again in the Springtime! Consistency does indeed pay off.
