Our aunt Melissa has been working from home since she chose to go into quarantine. And since that time, her business has been downgraded and switched to a new office space. She was given the option of remaining at home or driving into the office, and she chose to remain at home because of the convenience. She doesn’t want to get dressed every day to deal with the traffic to and from work. We don’t blame her at all because when we worked from home, it was the best thing ever. Plus, we were saving so much money on food and on gas for our car. Of course, we were also spending extra money on certain things. One thing that was unique that increased was our energy bill. Prior to working from home, our Heating and Air Conditioning unit wouldn’t be running during the daytime. In fact, we doubt that our Heating and Air Conditioning unit cycled on at all. However, that changed because we needed to use our Heating and Air Conditioning unit to remain comfortable while we worked. And although we saw an increase in our energy usage, the extra cost to run our Heating and Air Conditioning unit all day was far less than what we were spending on gas and food for the week. So, working from home was beneficial to our pockets. We know that our aunt is experiencing the same savings as well. However, we weren’t as fortunate as aunt Melissa, and we had to return to work. And sure enough, our energy bill decreased because we no longer used our Heating and Air Conditioning during the day, but we are now spending more money on gas and food. We are hoping that at some point in the future we can return to working from home again because it was easier on our bank account.
