I am sure that several of you can relate to the troubles that come with caring for aging parents. They are sometimes hard to reason with when it comes to making sure that things are taken care of. I know that I have often found myself in the job of the parent more than the child and it seems to happen more often than it used to. I try and be delicate about things as much as possible but my frustration level is reaching a hot point when it comes to the house. There is much that needs to be done that is forgotten. When something goes wrong due to these lapses of memory I am the one who gets the panic call to come repair things right away. The latest panic call had to do with the Heating and Air Conditioning system. I had contacted an Heating and Air Conditioning business a while back to have the system checked out and thought that the appointment was completed. It turns out that my dad had refused to let the lady in the loft so they just never had it done. Now, the heat won’t turn on and they want me to come right away to see if I can repair it. They never even tried turning on the heat until it was needed so now I am in panic mode because I need the loft to be warm. I know I have to add testing the Heating and Air Conditioning system to my list of responsibilities at their loft too. If these things keep happening I may have to talk to them about moving to a less strenuous arena.
