Got a sunlight heating education

This Winter was easily the best Winter that my wife and I have ever experienced together.

It sure helps that we moved to the south and left all that harsh Winter weather behind us. We moved down here in November and it felt wonderful outside. The house we bought sits on 14 acres of property and it’s been completely renovated. That means we have the very latest when it comes to residential HVAC. The heat pump is the best and yet, we didn’t here it come on buy maybe three time this Winter. That’s how often the heating came on. And even then, it wasn’t anything like cold. I know from cold because I grew up and lived a long time in a place where a heat pump can’t provide enough heating. So we had the best Winter being outside and learning all about our new community. We also got a lesson in direct sunlight heating early this Spring. Since we don’t have any neighbors for the first time ever, we left the windows bare to enjoy the light and the views. Once the temperatures began to rise in March, the air conditioning seemed to be kicking on an awful lot but it wasn’t in any way scorching outside. It was warm but it was spectacular. That first electric bill of the Spring clobbered us and I thought something was wrong with the heat pump. The HVAC professionals checked it all out and the HVAC equipment was fine. That’s when they saw that we had all these windows and no drapes or shades. The direct sunlight heating was responsible for our situation. We’ve made the necessary corrections as we go into our first Summer.
