Heating our Old House

Our dwelling is over one hundred years old, and it can be a pain sometimes.

My partner, Todd, and I bought the dwelling when my buddy and I were first married, and it was my dream come true.

I’ve typically wanted to live in an older house. I guess they have so much more character that the modern ones that most of my family live in. After residing in our loft for only a couple short years, I realized that residing in and old dwelling wasn’t all that I thought that it would be, but don’t get me wrong, it is a beautiful house, and it does have a lot of character, however it also has a lot of concerns. We’ve had several leaks in the washroom and living room. We’ve had some electrical concerns and honestly decided to get the entire dwelling rewired, however by far, the largest trouble we’ve had is trying to heat the locale in the winter time time. There was an old wood burning stove there when my buddy and I bought the house, however it has since bit the dust. Thankfully, the dwelling isn’t that big, so my buddy and I at least have that going for us. My fantastic friend and I ended up purchasing three electric fireplaces. One for the residing room, one for the kitchen/living room, and one for our study room. They seem to do a pretty fantastic task of keeping the dwelling hot in the winter time months. The hot and cold temperatures rarely drop below forty where my buddy and I are at, so the fireplaces are able to keep up. As long as my buddy and I can keep the drafty windows and doors covered, our dwelling stays nice and cozy during even the coldest winter time mornings. I adore our old house, however man, it has been a lot of labor to keep it heated.
