I developed plantar fasciitis from years of bad running habits.
- When I was young, I didn’t have enough money to pay for a gym membership, or to purchase exercise equipment or buy costly sneakers.
I purchased a thin pair of cheap ten dollar sneakers from Walmart in addition to started running. I made the mistake of taking a run every single day. As I built stamina, I increased the distance of my monthly routes. I was eventually hitting ten to fifteen miles. I failed to properly stretch out or warm up prior to a run. I didn’t bother with a cool-down following a run. I wasn’t good about drinking sufficient amounts of water, plantar fasciitis is seriously painful. It feels as if the bottom of the foot, from the heel to the ball, splits open with every step. The pain got so bad that I could no longer run. I could barely walk in addition to I struggled to sleep at evening. Icing down my feet, stretching the muscles in addition to taking over-the-counter anti-inflammatories helped. I finally made an appointment with a podiatrist, who fitted me for inserts into my shoes. The plastic inserts toil to support the arches of the feet. The podiatrist advocated that I spend some money on a nice pair of sneakers designed for running. I did some research in addition to realizing that running every day is very bad for the feet in addition to joints, but now that I can run again, I am a lot smarter about it. I only run two or three afternoons per week. In-between, my workouts are centered around light impact activities such as cycling, kayaking in addition to weight-lifting. I prioritize my warm-up, cool-down, stretches in addition to proper hydration.
