When my husband turned the basement into a playroom for the kids, I thought it was a wonderful idea. They had a lot of fun down there, playing games, watching movies and entertaining their friends. One afternoon, my daughter asked me to come downstairs. She told me she was worried about some mold she saw in the corner. It was never very warm down there because there were no air vents, but I didn’t expect mold. I knew we needed climate control for the basement. When my husband got home from work that afternoon, I addressed the problem of climate control for the basement. He said he could probably knock a hole in the wall and let the heat from the furnace room get into the playroom, but he didn’t know if that would be enough. I asked if there was some way we could get actual HVAC into the playroom. He mulled it over for a couple of days and then told me he had a solution. He was talking to an associate at work, and he told him to get a mini split HVAC system for the basement. We called the HVAC company and asked about the mini split HVAC system. Two days later, we had the new HVAC system, and within minutes, the basement was already more comfortable. I found out that he wanted to put a poker room in the basement, and he didn’t want his table top to get moldy. I didn’t care what his reasons were for installing the mini split HVAC system. It took care of the dampness and the need for better heating.
