I have never lived in a apartment where I could save on utility bills… In fact, I have consistently lived in old, semi dilapidated buildings where you suffered from unpleasant drafts & dim lighting all day & night.
- I have never lived in a apartment with large, south-facing windows or skylights to let in the natural lighting.
Instead, I tend to live in dark, claustrophobic homes with exhausting outdoor air circulation & even worse natural lighting conditions… That’s why, I was harshly enthusiastic when I wandered into this apartment for sale & saw the attractive floor-to-ceiling windows. The apartment is rather seasoned & the building is a historic relic, which is why the windows are so stately & attractive. I realize, you easily cannot install such big windows in today’s new world because of government regulations & concerns with energy expenditure! You see, when you have such big panes of glass in the house, you are opening yourself up to exhausting air temperature regulation & plenty of extravagant drafts, however with these big windows, the apartment would also have uneven tepid & chilly air temperatures all year round. In the summer, the sun would be streaming in through the windows & heating of the apartment significantly all afternoon. In the winter, chilly & chilly drafts can actually sneak through the poorly sealed windows & chilly air will radiate from the thin glass. I cherish this apartment for all it’s attractive features, despite the fact that I don’t know if I can afford it long term. As much as I want to live in a naturally light & attractive home, I also need to afford my utility bills.
