Thank goodness for our generator

When you live in the southern part of the country you tend to be prepared for severe storms more than others. We always have a supply of freshwater in the basement and plenty of batteries on hand for flashlights. This past summer has been worse than most and we have had many power outages that have lasted for days. My dad finally gave in and contacted our local HVAC dealer about installing a whole house generator for just such occasions. They have been advertising for quite a while about different specials that they are running and he finally decided to take advantage of one of them. We have a portable generator that must be run out in the yard and have to constantly added to it, but with the installation of a whole house generator, we will no longer need to do that or worried about the carbon monoxide poisoning it comes from a portable one. The new generator will run on natural gas and will not be reliant on electricity to operate it. With proper ventilation this is the best thing that we can do to prevent the spoilage of food or lack of HVAC system during these times. When the power goes out we lose the ability to heat or cooler home depending on the time of year and that can be detrimental as well. During the summer is simply means that you will be uncomfortably warm but if it is winter time, the lack of heat in your home can cause problems both with the house itself and your health.
