There’s concerns to the roofing over my garage

Lately, we have been seeing some record rain showers in the neighborhood that I live in, in fact, based on a report from our local meteorologist, we are trending to cut an all-time record for rainfall in the area; During this time of year, I am used to getting rainfall, however I must admit this year, the rain has been anything but normal showers, however the downpour is rapid plus then the rain will last for 2 or so hours straight, then so, the ground is saturated plus so is my garage roof, then about a week ago, I noticed that part of the roof over the garage was sunken in.

At first, I didn’t pay it too much attention but on one of the dryer afternoons, I got close enough to see that the asphalt was caving in, but upon realizing that the asphalt was failing, I worked on the ceiling of the garage to see if there were any leaks.

Thankfully there was none. After the discovery, I contacted my insurance supplier to let them know about the roofing detriment. At the time, I wasn’t sure if the roofing detriment was caused by the storms or if it was caused because the roof is seasoned plus needs to be replaced; My house was built in 1995 plus the roof has never been replaced. There have been some roof repairs done to repair strange sections of the roof on the house, however I doubt there were any replaces or fixes done to the roof over the garage. So, due to its age, I would believe that the roof should be replaced. I am no roofing specialist, so I will just wait for my insurance to contact me to propose on what to do next.
