There’s issues to the roofing over my garage

Lately, my wonderful friend and I have been seeing some record rain showers in the town that I live in! In fact, based on a report from our local meteorologist, my wonderful friend and I are trending to chop an all-time record for rainfall in the area, but during this time of year, I am used to getting rainfall, but I must confess this year, the rain has been anything but normal showers, however the downpour is rapid and then the rain will last for 2 or so hours straight; So, the ground is saturated and so is my garage roof, then about a week ago, I noticed that part of the roof over the garage was sunken in.

  • At first, I didn’t pay it too much attention but on one of the dryer nights, I got close enough to see that the asphalt was caving in, upon realizing that the asphalt was failing, I diagnosed the ceiling of the garage to see if there were any leaks.

Thankfully there was none. After the discovery, I contacted my insurance supplier to let them know about the roofing damage. At the time, I wasn’t sure if the roofing damage was caused by the storms or if it was caused because the roof is outdated and needs to be replaced, but my household was built in 1995 and the roof has never been replaced. There have been some roof repairs done to repair different sections of the roof on the house, but I doubt there were any replaces or fixes done to the roof over the garage. So, due to its age, I would believe that the roof should be replaced. I am no roofing specialist, so I will just wait for my insurance to contact me to propose on what to do next.
