I was doing some early spring cleaning this week. I wiped down walls, cleaned the gutters, and washed the windows. When I got to the bathroom windows, it shocked me to see there was mold all around the glass and the window sills. That’s when I realized how humid it was in my bathrooms. There was an exhaust fan in the bathroom, but it wasn’t doing its job. I started scrubbing the window sills and my rag was coming away black. I panicked thinking this was the black mold that could kill, and pulled out the bleach. I called my husband and showed him the mold. He shrugged and said we had to use the vent fan more often. I often turned the exhaust fans off well into the day, because they were forgotten. I told him we needed a dehumidifier. He rolled his eyes and walked away. I had a portable dehumidifier in the attic, so I went on a search and rescue mission. I was going to find a portable dehumidifier and put it in the bathroom. I found two portable humidifiers. There were two window air conditioners and a large box of furnace air filters for the old furnace. I knew I had a dehumidifier up there, but I couldn’t find it. Now, I was going to the basement. I went into the back room and started going through all the junk. I must have found at least twenty boxes full of old Christmas lights, but no dehumidifier. My husband asked why I was so angry when I got back into the living room. I told him I couldn’t find the dehumidifier. He laughed and told me he had already put it in the bathroom.
